Introduction As two classic theories of learning and teaching, behaviorism and cognitivism have inspired a lot of great thinkers to make contributions to education. It is essential to point out the differences between the two theories so as to study how these two theories have been implemented to educational experiences. Studies have been made on the comparison on the two theories and their contribution to educational experiences. Bates (2016) had detailed analyses on the both theories and how they can be implemented to education. He states that even if these theories are relatively old but they still are of great importance to the education today since they are the basis of the modern theories. He believes that behaviorism is a teacher-led activity which means the teacher is the center and he or she must control what needs to be done, while cognitivism is based on the principle that all the information is processed by the learner itself to seek a balance with the world. Zuriff (1986) argues that behaviorists explain behaviors in terms of environments while cognitivists insist that those behaviors are closely related to the internal features of the organism.
